Youth Hip Hop Tops
chances at these universities?
Could you please help me determine my chances for the following schools:
1. Drexel University
2. Penn State
3. Lehigh University
4. New York University
5. Baylor University
-SAT: 1980 (will retake)
-Unweighted GPA: 3.990
-# of AP Classes: 8 (scores all 4′s and 5′s)
-Class rank: top 5%
-National Honor Society, Key Club
-Officer in church youth group
-Lots of recommendations, write really good essays (one was published)
-lots of volunteering and service hours
-School Soccer team
-City hip-hop team, took 1st place once
-President of 2 clubs (hip-hop club and soccer club)
-Part time job
Also, is there any chance of scholarships to any of these schools? I can’t qualify for financial aid, but i can’t afford the tuition without scholarships!
You will get into Drexel, Penn State and Baylor. I think you have a very decent shot at NYU and Lehigh. Both are fairly prestigious schools, but neither are “impossible” to get into. I like how you challenged yourself with the AP classes, and I love your top 5% ranking. And let’s hope that your SAT is over 2000 this time, even though a 1980 is pretty decent. You also seem to be pretty involved outside of school, which is something these schools will definitely look at, especially since your stats look like a lot of their applicants.
I already got into Baylor, and I’m expecting an acceptance from Penn State, trust me, you should have no problem getting into either school. One thing that puzzles me though, is that the worst University on your list is ranked number 1. I think that if you get into all the other schools, then I’d think that Drexel should only be an option if they give you a lot of money.
