Sex, Drugs & Rock-n-roll = Self-destruction
Rock Stars … we are fascinated by them as much as we idolize celebrities of Hollywood. Listen their music, buy the CD, hang their posters on every wall of our room, watch them on MTV, and go to their concerts. I idolized while often seen as semi-gods. But underneath all that fame and fortune that the world of rock and roll had given them, many of these rock stars are on the road to self-destruction.
Often, being a rock star would also mean that they are associated with substance abuse and drug overdoses such as Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, among others. It is a happy-go-round of money, adulation, traveling and being in the media. Like other humans, demi-gods of music rock are also susceptible to pain and depression. Drugs and alcohol — two things that they will, two substances that are supposed to relieve your pain and concerns … are same poisons that ruin their lives.
Perhaps we tend to forget that just like the rest of us — real people with real problems. Despite having multiple partners sex, huge amounts of money, and popularity … deep down we all want only to be loved. Even celebrities suffer from loneliness and longing for love in the true sense of the word. They want to be loved for what they really are and not for the celebrity artists who created rock.
Like Joplin and Morrison, there are other musical legends that have been immortalized through his songs. Kurt Cobain and Ian Curtis, musically gifted young, were at the peak of his career when he decided to end their lives. Cobain and his band Nirvana were known for the introduction of "grunge sound." For his part, Curtis and the rest of Joy Division had left a legacy through the song "Love Tear Us Apart." Despite the appearance of "having it all", these artists were not satisfied and psychologically tortured and emotionally. Despite all the praise of external and public success, Cobain shot himself and Curtis committed suicide by hanging.
What made it so? self-destructive people are aware of their shortcomings. Can be self-critical about his work and often think they are not good enough, creative enough, or smart enough. They may be disgusted with his personality or may be charged by your own perfectionism. In many cases, self-destruction or have leads to suicide trends suicide.
Most of those who struggle with thoughts of suicide and other forms of self-destruction usually have some or all of the following behaviors:
Too much smoke
Stress always be
Heavy drinking
Have plenty of casual sex
Not having enough rest and sleep
Do not see a doctor or ignore doctor's orders
self-destructive people are more focused on the universe "outside and have lost sight of the need to have a sense inner peace and self-esteem. Unfortunately, for many rock stars like Cobain, his legacy will be more about his tragic end in place of his music.
