How new guitar! HELP?!?

I'm getting a new guitar. I play a lot of classic rock (Rolling Stones, AC / DC, Led Zeppelin, etc..) And even some blues and punk from time to time. I want the hard rock guitar that can get under $ 600. So now I've reduced between two teams … tell me best for my type of music and good rock n roll sound. Fender Telecaster-Keith plays these, so does Pete Townshend, etc. Do not know much seeing on television, but I'm interested. Epiphone Les Paul-LP are the gods of rock guitars. My friend has one and suggested it. Thanks!

You may want to test each one before making a decision. Both are impressive, but have some important differences. For example, television is a kind of one-trick horse. Has a different sound, nasal. You will not have many shades of it. The LP by contrast, is one of the most versatile guitars. You can obtain a wide range of sounds different from it. There is also a difference in the length scale, ie, how far are the frets. The frets are closer to a Les Paul (24.75 scale length) than on TV (25.5 "scale length). Most people can play as well, but some have a personal preference. If you must buy a blind, and have the opportunity to try, you probably better with the LP, simply because of its versatility of sound. One important thing to take into account likely NO NO For any custom models LP. You end up paying an extra couple hundred only cosmetic differences. It may look prettier, but not play better. I recommend you go with a Les Paul Standard, or a classic if you can still find. You can probably even find one with little use in craigslist. This will save some money, and often the previous owner had already prepared for you professionally.
