Rock And Roll Kudos
R&P: lets salute KAREN O… say Yeah Yeah Yeahs!!?
Hey R&P, your old friend Punch has been saluting some unappreciated female artists all week. Today we are saluting Karen Lee Orzolek (born November 22, 1978), better known by her stage name Karen O. She is the vocalist for the New York art rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are amazing and original. The band wrote a slew of songs at their first rehearsal and soon wound up supporting the Strokes and the White Stripes, earning a significant buzz for their arty and garage punk songs.
Y Control
a single off their first album “Maps” received much radioplay and critical kudos!

Cheated Hearts
I am really loving their new album It’s Blitz!, which has been extremely well received by critics and fans alike

whats your favorite Yeah Yeah Yeahs song?
Karen O and the Kids – “All Is Love”
Karen O is doing the soundtrack for her ex, Spike Jonze’s film “Where the Wild Things Are” with a list of contributors going under the name Karen O and the Kids:
“the Kids” includes YYYs’ Brian Chase and Nick Zinner; Bradford Cox of Deerhunter and Atlas Sound; two of the Raconteurs, and others yet to be named.
I’m very mixed about It’s Blitz… its an interesting experiment that works really well about half of the time on that album.
Its just that I’ve ended up preferring the acoustic bonus tracks to the original versions most of the time — and I ddon’t think that should be the case.
I am happy to see them not making the same album over and over again, but prefer their self-titled EP and Is Is (also an EP) over any of their LPs so far. Tighter and lacking any drag for me.
That being said — Maps -> Y Control is some of the best album sequencing ever, in my opinion. The juxtaposition of those tracks is just gorgeous.
Ted NUGENT: Kudos for the bin Laden kill. One cockroach down, lots more to go.
