Rock And Roll Kentucky
What artist do you think when you hear "honky tonk music"?
For me it is every time Gary Stewart "The voice barely stopped in their tracks. Hillbilly out of control with one edge of Kentucky added some chrome pipes Cadillac, which quickly take his soul for the flap. When Gary Stewart heard her sing that kind of place to breathe, wondering if he was going to live the song. Had fallen upon the words, syllables, elongated and growling around his range, and then spit the chorus. At a time when many roots-conscious rockers were trying to add a small country to shoot his rock N, Gary turned the other side "with a vengeance." Stewart does not really fit in anywhere, "writes Jim Lewis." He was not Southern rock, and not Nashville country. "Amen to that. Gary Stewart was a strange kind, exciting and often frustrating himself." source … Jimmy McDonough http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_cu7v6VmyQ
Gary Stewart was definitely one of a kind. I worked as a DJ live during a summer and always has played a lot of songs and either empty glass or place or mine would be the last song of the night. Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, George Jones and Dwight Yoakum also come to mind when I think Honky Tonk music.
