I want to build a good team for real?
It seems that the more I read about processors and motherboards more confusing it becomes. I want a fast computer, but I'm not a player. I do a lot of searching on the internet and downloads and multitasking. I have Windows XP Home Edition. My Sony Vaio Pentium 4 (3.0GHz, 1.25GB RAM, 140GB hard drive) is good, but I think his slow compared to today's standards and I do not like to wait until 5 seconds to load MS Word. It sucks! I can not wait I want something fast and now, but a good knock to the ball. I gut my Sony, keep the tower and install additional components, graphics card, motherboard, processor, and all I need to rock n roll! Some people, like AMD and some, like INTEL. I guess it's a preference as a Chevrolet or Ford. Can someone who is not partial to particular brand to help me??
I like both AMD and Intel, but logically, go AMD. They are cheaper to run Intel, which is better for processors high-end as a i7. I would get an Athlon X4 620, a processor of 2.6 GHz quad-core is only $ 100 (more than four cores each). Clock speed is not very high, but will make several major tasks. Also excellent for moderate game if you decide to get into that. Just get any motherboard AM3 from a trusted brand such as Asus, Gigabyte, ASRock, MSI, basically anything with a good user rating. Get 4GB of DDR3 RAM cheap, DDR3 1333 is not as expensive (~ $ 95). If you want a dedicated graphics card for anything that complex visual effects, games and stuff, go for something cheap as a HD4670, which is about $ 65 is the best bang-for-your-money from a cheap graphics card. You can max out most games at 1280×1024 and big plays at 1680×1050. Finally, get about a power of 400 watts of power for all these things (including the graphics card), preferably from someone like Antec or Corsair, OCZ and Coolmax but are also pretty good, just look for something with a good number of users. This should work perfect for your wants and needs. Finally, shop at Newegg.com for good price and wide selection of items. Hope this helps, good luck! Edit: For your hard drive, just get a normal hard disk, not an SSD. While SSD are super fast, ridiculous prices are not worth the money. Why pay $ 300 for 80 GB when you can get 1.5TB for $ 140 or less?
