Pop Music Piano Tabs
How to read piano tabs… is that what they’re even called?
I can read sheet music perfectly fine. I don’t have any training at the piano, and I just want to play some easy pop songs for fun… I’ve found some sheetmusic online, but it’s not like any piano sheet music I’ve seen.
There are three lines.. one for voice, left hand, and right hand… But what the heck is that little chord symbol thing above the first line? Example: http://www.writtenmelodies.com/Modern/Sheets/Mika_HappyEnding.pdf
Which lines do I play?
These aren’t really piano tabs; those look quite a bit different even from this. This is just sheet music designed to be used by a piano player accompanying a vocalist. Traditionally, you’d only be playing the bottom two lines – those are the actual piano part. The chords notated above the vocal line are guitar chords, so that a guitar player could also accompany.
