Music Industry Volume
The computer that has files and at the same time doesn’t?
A couple of days ago I turned on my computer to find a recovery screen. Once I got past that I saw the Windows XP installation screen without me touching anything. The system started up and when I went to check the “My Documents” and my videos, music and other documents were missing. Strangely enough I checked my hard drive space and it was at the same “space used” volume (or whatever the industry term for that is) prior the incident. When I use the search feature (Start>Search) I can find my files with the same paths prior to the incident. When I want to go and access these by following the paths as per the search results all I find is the default files in “My Documents” you find when you install Windows on a brand new PC.
So do I recover these all these files and file paths?
And finally its a mystery to me as to why and how this actually happened, so how could this happen?

Did you make a new user?
You could try inserting a live disk from a Ubuntu release and then getting the files out that way.
