How do you ask the music industry permission for use of their music online?
I made a dance video on youtube, and youtube offered me to enable revenue service, meaning that they offer to post advertisements on my video. But in order for them to approve the video, I have to ask the artist or company for their permission. How do I get permission from the music industry in general? Because I might do more videos in the future?
‘Industry’ is not a single entity. An ‘industry’ is a on-going machine made up of many different workers and companies.
You have to find the record company that owns the song you are using (this can be found on wikipedia, or on the CD case, or on Itunes probably). Then you have to go to their website and find an email or call them. Make sure you get the right department. Customer Service would be a good place to contact.
Different companies will have different opinions and they don’t all work together. You can’t just contact one super group.
