Music Industry Video Games

Where can I go to enter into the music composing industry?
For 2 years I have been writing music for free for teenagers’ homemade computer games and have spent over 1,500 hours doing it. My band director says that my music has the quality of professional video game composers and that I should enter into the composing industry so I can actually make money off of it.
I would start charging money for the composing I do for the teenagers’ computer games, but they don’t have any money so then my popularity at that place would plummet. Does anyone know of a place I can go or website I can visit that can lead me to being payed to write music for video games? (I do not mean a place that lets me sell music, I mean a place that would pay me to write music.)
taxi.com helps artists get their music on tv shows, video games, movies, etc but they charge quite a bit to join. i don’t know a whole lot about it, but it’s worth a shot to look into.
if i was you i would invest in really good quality recording equipment and start recording. this way you will have a demo reel of sorts that you can show video game developers. I would look into the developers and production companies of the games that you think fit the style of music you can create and try contacting them. check out their web sites and find some contact information, or phone numbers and start trying to get in touch with someone. they may not be able to hook you up, but can probably at least give you some advice on how to go about it. maybe look into the booklets of games, i’m pretty sure they credit the musicians and that, so you may be able to find a company or something that way to contact. just start randomly searching the web.
