Internet Based Guitar Lessons

One of the worst ways for a beginner guitarist to start learning the guitar is through printed, static material. The universal availability of these, however, makes them the starting place for most would be guitar players. What’s wrong with them? They provide no direct feedback, no corrective responses, unable to show correct technique, versus incorrect, no demonstrations. Not to mention that lack of updates from the printed page. As a modern and preferable alternative, more and more students are turning to the internet, and video based guitar training. The ability to see the technique demonstrated, and hearing the notes of the chord, or the scales, is invaluable for the novice student. Luckily, the variety of internet guitar lesson websites is growing daily, and thus providing a wide variety of styles to each new student. Most of these sites also include industry professionals, or professional music instructors demonstrating the tasks for each individual lesson.

It can be as basic as learning how to properly hold the guitar, tune and string a guitar correctly, picking or strumming the guitar. Although considered simplistic to most, the novice may have no idea how to achieve these minor tasks, and a simple, short video can set their mind’s at ease with simple, clear demonstrations of each. Try learning how to strum from a static page, with no other information than a cryptic drawing and text. The video lesson systems are becoming more and more efficient at training and advancing students through the introductory levels faster than traditional book based learning ever could. The power of video training, also, is the ability to demonstrate correct technique for a wide variety of guitar basics. Strumming, chord finger positioning, and scales, to name a few. The only way the modern video guitar training systems could be any more efficient would be if the instructor was to come to your house, and watch you, and correct you, step by step.

Unfortunately, a large amount of new guitar players, tend to drop the instrument from their training for various reasons. Unable to make the time commitment, high cost of the instrument, plus a wide range of other excuses are cited as the usual cause for this. But the power of the online guitar lesson, or video guitar lesson, usually will keep the students interest and therefore keep their desire to learn the instrument at a higher level, for longer. No longer tied to the instructor’s schedule, and able to pick up the guitar and watch a video at their leisure is a large bonus, and will keep the student motivated. Social networking sites and public video sharing sites, such as Facebook, and YouTube also act as a resource for alternative lessons and influences. The sheer volume of video’s and websites available is enough to keep the average student interested and practicing for much longer than the old-style guitar learning books.

A key point to remember when researching video guitar lessons, is to keep in mind that if your having problems with one particular section of a lesson, or cant’ seem to get the hang of a scale, the power of the internet provides dozens, if not hundreds of recourses to find a solution to these common problems. Although, be sure, as a beginner, to not get frustrated if you view an advanced guitar lesson video, and find that you are not up to that level. After all, you probably just started playing the guitar, and need to progress at your own speed.

With these key points in mind, be sure to use all the recourses available to you when searching for guitar lessons online.
