Many Industries now look to CD duplication for their Sales and Marketing Communication

There has been a large increase in the number of companies using duplicated CDs (compact discs) to increase their marketing reach.  CD duplication, often referred to as ‘burning’, is the process of assembling source material—video, audio or other data—into the proper logical volume format which is then recorded or burnt  onto an optical disc.  It’s typically a CD, but can also be stored on a DVD for DVD duplication. The duplicated CD can be printed on via a number of methods such as inkjet, screenprint, offset or thermal print.

At inception back in the 1980s, CDs were primarily used for commercially released music.  However, the demand for music CDs has fallen dramatically over the past decade.  Consumers increasingly access their music or other audio file formats, via MP3, and play it on their computers and portable music devises such as ipods and mobile phones.

As a result the nature of CD duplication has changed. Rather than music CDs, the product is now seen more as a very effective communication tool which can carry companies’ messages, such as marketing, presentations, promotions, technical data, and even, catalogues, to their target markets, and distributed very easily.  Smart organizations have been using this technology for many years, harnessing the benefits of cheap CD duplication to effectively communicate their message.

There are many examples of CD duplication being used to carry a marketing/advertising message to a target audience.  Some are:-

  • Catalogues
  • Residential property for sale or rent
  • Schools targeting prospective students
  • Educational courses
  • Seminar workshops
  • Web-based businesses putting on-line videos onto CD or DVD for people not familiar with Flash
  • Capital raising client presentations
  • Boat or car manufacturers can feature all their models on one disc
  • Pet product supplies

The CD or DVD duplication method suits individuals, institutions and companies that are trying to communicate or sell a product or concept that is too large to carry around, such as cars or retail developments.  Others include financial products or training services which are too intangible to have just as printed, still images.  Another area is where a product or service can have a number of technical specifications with them, ie the CD/DVD allows the user to obtain and absorb information through a structured menu system within the disc so they can find the specific data as needed, in a user-friendly manner and at their own pace.

CD/DVD duplication has replaced printed brochures for many forms of marketing communication and training purposes. However a disc attached to a printed brochure often augments its effectiveness as the consumer gets the message via the two media. CDs can be housed in cases or pvc wallets to the front or inside of brochures, technical manuals or free with magazines and trade publications as “cover mounts”.
