THANK YOU SO MUCH. best answer will be chosen.
Well, setting aside the legal issues, there are also ethical implications. Keep in mind that musicians and song writers get paid when their music is purchased. They don’t get paid a lot, but they do get paid something. And that small amount per purchase adds up when there are multiple purchases. While artists (and I use the term loosely in this case) like Britney Spears are filthy rich, people like her are the exception, not the rule. Most musicians don’t make crazy money. Most make very little. In fact, a large number of musicians have day jobs to pay their bills because they can’t live off their music. Some make enough to live off their music if they live frugally, but they’re pretty lucky. Musicians are people, they have bills to pay. When they go into the studio to record a new album, they have to pay to make that album. They pay for studio time, mixing, editing, and tons of other things involved in the process. I have a relative who cut an indie CD, and it cost his band almost $15,000.00, which is really dirt cheap. He sold his car to pay for it. It’s not unusual for musicians to pay $100,000.00 to put out their CD when you factor in expenses like promotion (you may be able to find actual numbers online). The point is, they pay to make the CD. It costs them money, and a pretty good chunk of money at that. They hope to recoup the debt and to hopefully make a profit off of CD sales. If people download instead of paying for the CD, they’ve lost the profit off of that non-sale. They may not manage to break even if enough people steal their music instead of buying it. If they can’t make money, they’re screwed. Some people say that musicians should make music because they love it and not for profit, but doing something you love doesn’t pay the rent or the electric bills. If they can’t make money off their music, they have to do something that does pay money, which means less time for music, which means less music produced. If they have a studio contract, the studios keep track of sales, which act like ratings. If sales are low because thousands choose to steal instead of buying, the artist can find that their contract has been terminated because the studio doesn’t think they’re worth the investment. They may be able to sign with a small indie studio, but then again they might not. It can end careers.

HP 12C Financial Calculator $59.64 If you bought yourself a financial calculator during the 1980s, chances are it was this bad boy. Nothing has changed since its introduction–it still uses Reverse Polish Notation (RPN), is easy and versatile in programming, and has a thin, sturdy casing. Certainly, there’s been newer, fancier calculators introduced since, but there’s something to be said for the quality of classics. The HP 12C’s f… |
