Hurricane: 17 – 19 June, 2011

Spend a nice week in northern Germany and visit the city of Bremer Musiker, book the night at Townside hostel, his hostel has a fun atmosphere and a host of many music events in the city! SummerJam 1 – 3 July, 2011
Summerjam is the most popular reggae festival in Europe. You can buy tickets from 92€ and enjoy relaxing reggae music by the beautiful lake Fuehlinger in Cologne! This year you can enjoy live performance by ALPHA BLONDY, ATMOSPHERE, BEN L´ONCLE SOUL, ‘SCRATCH’ PERRY, MADCON, PATRICE & The Supowers, THE CONGOS or WHO DAT!?. From Cologne the reggaebus will drive you safely and comfortably directly to the festival. Cologne offers numerous cheap and trendy accommodations, such as apartment house King Georg in the centre of the or Meininger Hotel Cologne located in the student area Kwartier Latäng and is great place to meet people.
Wacken, 4 – 6 August, 2011
Wacken, a small village in Germany, in Schleswig-Holstein, that once a year becomes the craziest place in the world! It becomes W:O:K — Wacken Open Air Festival. Wacken that has only 2,000 habitants becomes once a year the mecca for hard-and heavy rock fans around the world! This year you can enjoy live performances by Atrum, Coldwar, Deathclocks, Jum Breuer, ChrashDiet, Blowsight, Eläkeläiset, Danko Jones, Cradle of Filth, Tokio Blad, Vulacano or Avantasia! The festival has a long tradition, started 20 years ago as a small event for local German bands. Now it has become the major festival for the European Metal bands and has included over 70 bands from all over Europe, North America and Australia.
If you are a lucky owner of a W:O:A ticket, it is a good idea to first make a stop-over at Hamburg. There are a lots of nice and cheap rock and roll hostels in Hamburg where you will find other metal-heads going to Wacken. So if you plan to visit Wacken, you can discover the north of Germany, then book the hostels in Lübeck, hostels in Kiel and hostels in Bremen.
Sonne-Mond-Sterne-Festival (SMS) 12 – 14 August, 201
Sonne-Mond-Sterne-Festival (abbreviated SMS) is one of the largest open-air festivals of electronic music in Germany, held annually on the second weekend in August in Thuringia. More than 100,000 visitors attend this event every year. You can get down to The Chemical Brothers, Moby, Swedish House Mafia, Carl Cox, Die Vögel, Egotronic and hundreds of other Djs! This is much more than just a music event! It’s a religious experience!
Saalburg where the festival is held, it is located in the south of Thuringia in Germany. Just follow the music or look out for the hand-painted signs that point the way to SMS. You could stay at hostel Hababusch in Weimar. This hostel is close to the festival. Right in the middle of everything you will also find the Labyrinth Hostel.
Reeperbahn Festival, 22-24 September, 2011
Reeperbahn Festival is a famous music event held in Hamburg with over 10,000 attending this festival! It was first launched in September 2006. More than 200 bands on 20 platforms for three days! This year’s line up: Bleech, Churguckamuck, Josh Ottum, Kraftklub, Retro Stefson, Moon Duo or The good Natured. But Reeperbahn festival in Hamburg is not only music, the Reeperbahn Campus hosts representatives of the film, IT and games industry too! It is a great opportunity for the creative industry to meet and socialize during the Reeperbahn Festival. Remember any kind of street art is illegal and anyone who gets caught has to pay a fine. Three day ticket costs only 59.50€.
