Music Industry Royalties
Do companies have the right to use his image or likeness for commercial purposes without paying you?
I know in the music industry, comapanies can use a song without permission of the artists [and payment of royalties guess] after 20 or 25 years. But what about the photo or the image "of the people? saw a shop selling t-shirts Bob Dylan the other day and asked if he still gets all the money from people trading his image, or even if you have to give permission for people to use. It depends … the company must have permission to take your picture, but once you give that permission, the image belongs to the company and they can use as they wish … long as it does not hurt. I imagine that anyone Dylan selling shirts (unless they are at a concert or something like that) are doing so illegally because it has your permission or own the rights to the image …
