Music Industry Rating System
Do ratings systems encourage adult entertainment to be repackaged for children?
I’ve noticed the same problem with movies, music and video games. In the movie industry EVERY movie (that isn’t expressly a kiddee flick, like Pixar’s movies), is filmed as a Hard R, and then cut back in editing to get the rating that matches their target audience.
I’m questioning whether we are encouraging the creation of adult entertainment, which is then re-packaged for kids to get the widest possible audience.
Even without rating systems, entertainment would be much the same as it is now. Media organizations would just use different methods of finding their target audience. What you describe is driven by profit, not by ratings systems.
