Music Industry Paper Work
Are there really any careers in the music industry?
I have to have a paper to give to my school on what I want to do with my life. I want to work in the music industry. I know there is the whole ‘rock star’ job, but in not really into that. I was thinking on working for a record company. How hard would it be to be a talent scout, tour manger? any training needed? What other jobs are out there? I don’t want to be a producer, or a booking agent. Surly there are other jobs to of the music biz, but what?
I work for Vinyl City Records. I am also the founder. It has been a really rough ride, but in the end its worth it. Yes you do need certain training, it is not enough just to know songs. You should be able to do the following:
-Understand music theory
-Play an instrument
-Have advanced knowledge of the music making process
I started getting seriously into music at the age of 9 and at first, I was a disc-jockey. Soon after I realized that DJing doesnt have a good future, so I started sound engineering. I started recording local bands, the schools choir, a jazz and blues combo. I hosted gigs, attended musical events just to see how the sound was being setup. I also finished music school for piano, started rapping (that didnt go well) and started working in the studio all day and night. Finally I got myself a studio.
