Music Industry Live Performance

do you think the theatre industry( music dance and drama) has been affected by media technology in any way?
the concept is to see the contribution of the media towards promoting or extinguishing the theatre live performances and replacing them with media coverage.
There are two questions:
Does new media hurt live performance? Yes. Companies now have to compete for the attention of audiences who now prefer to watch Youtube, chat on the net, use their phones, go to movies, etc etc.
Does new media kill theatre? No. There are heaps of companies that use new media in live shows, from prerecorded music and video, to doing online shows (both prerecorded or live), mix and match media to their desires. In fact, the Youtube revolution has in some ways, made it easier to develop a company and an interested audience.
Theatre isn’t being replaced, it’s just been given an opportunity to either adapt or reduce its noticeability. Theatre didn’t die when silent movies became popular: it won’t die now.
