Air Force Enlistment?

I’ve recently seen an Air Force Recruiter about enlisting as a Paralegal. I took the practice ASVAB at his office and scored an 89, and he said I can basically qualify for anything. However, he told me that most positions are based on availability. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Industry (legal aspects of the music business) and want to enlist as an E-3 instead of an Officer to get a feel for the Air Force before trying OTS. I wouldn’t have a problem with some of the other jobs I picked but I would really prefer a Paralegal position. My questions are:

1.) Do many people get their first choice for job if it is available?
3.) Do most people go to MEPS with the intention of enlisting or can you wait to see what you’re offered?

Thanks for your time!

First off, that is a great plan. While enlisted you will be able to earn credits towards law school(if that is the way you want to go) while learning the ways of a law office/organization, and like you said, get a REAL feel for the military.

Concerning your question, to the best of my knowledge.

Question 1. With your ASVAB score you should get your first choice of job.
Question 2. Your recruiter is pretty much the ONLY person who can check job availability. You’ve got to make sure he/she is on the up and up. If your job is not available, you obviously have no obligations until you swear in, so you can wait it out until Paralegal becomes available, but, if for some reason your recruiter feels the need to get you enlisted quickly
they will try and dupe you (legally) into going to MEPS open. Be wary! Don’t let this happen. While your job will not be guaranteed per se, If your job is available you will be able to pick with no problems I believe your 5th(?) week of basic training.
My advice would be to seek advice from a few different recruiters come to your conclusion based on their counsel.
