Music Industry Facts

Cyber Monday to help the music industry upside down?
Music: it's one thing almost everybody who choose not to live without it. Every time I take the bus to work or walking downtown, I realize how many people join their iPods and other MP3 players. I'm as guilty as anyone else. I almost never leave my apartment without headphones on. This makes the best in the morning and the day go faster. Some listeners are fans of specific groups, while others put what you feel in your playlist. Whatever the case, almost everyone who listens to music on the go has a digital music player and subscribes to a service specific content (like iTunes or Rhapsody).
Of course, musicians have promoted almost all your digital music and plan to do more promotion of this holiday season with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Some of the biggest names in the industry are releasing new material this shopping season Christmas. There is only one thing: they are free to all new material on vinyl only.
When I first saw this news, I do not even know discs vinyl were released yet. When I think of vinyl, I think of my grandmother, listening to Frank Sinatra on the jukebox of age. But many artists are coming out in support of independent record stores this season with versions in limited edition vinyl. And I'm not just talking about indie pop artists to speak out against free trade. U2 Bruce Springsteen, and Metallica are just three of the many artists who are releasing vinyl only records in just a few weeks.
As the era of music becomes almost exclusively digital, more and more music is pirated in lieu of payment. In a stand of solidarity of the independent record stores have been badly affected in this economy, emissions of vinyl are "in" once again. Apparently, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are essentially to help the music industry backwards. But do not expect vinyl records to be published in a larger number than 30 years ago. iPods and MP3 players still rule at this time and this fact will not change anytime soon. But for those of you collectors who want to bring that player to use, check to see if one of their favorite artists is release of anything this holiday season.

The River $12.48 Despite the acclaim accorded Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town, this is the album that broke Springsteen into the big leagues, thanks to “Hungry Heart,” then his most pointedly commercial song; it had new fans swooning but some old ones grumbling for the “poetic” Springsteen of days gone by. Not to worry–though more economical lyrically, The River had something to offer nearly everyone… |

The Chorus (Les Choristes) $14.99 By getting nominated for Academy Awards in both the Foreign Language Film and Best Song categories, Les Choristes (The Chorus) made a rare (for a European film) double impression at the 2004 Oscars. This sentimental tale follows the arrival of a new teacher at a remote boys school in 1949 France (the war is a largely unspoken but ghostly presence). With disciplinary problems rampant, and the polic… |
