Music Industry Drexel

Drexel University Music Industry HELP?
I’m applying to the Music Industry major at Drexel University and i’ve already started my essay for this program. I looked all over the website but I couldn’t find a specific guideline for the essay, and I was wondering if anyone knows the requirements for the application?? I know that you no longer need to send in a CD/DVD but I’m just confused about the essay and what notttt
BUT ALSO, I was wondering really if I have a shot at getting into this major. I have a 3.4 GPA unweighted, but I have been playing the guitar for almost 10 years and I have been playing the clarinet for 7. Point is i’ve been involved with music my whole life in and out of school, but i’m just wondering about what kind of people get accepted into the majorrr.
If anyone knows anything at all about the Drexel Music Industry program that would be GREAT
Dear Eve,
Here’s the answer to your Music Industry essay question. This is from the Admissions website:
Relate your essay topic to your interest in your intended major (Music Industry in this case). If you are applying to an accelerated degree program in the Westphal College, your essay topic should relate to your selected major and indicate why you are a good candidate for the program.
With respect to your other questions, regarding getting admitted to the program; this is a highly competitive program. We expect to receive up to 900 applications this year, maybe more. The average GPA / SAT this year was 3.3 and 1200.
While many of the students who apply to the program have musical backgrounds and while that will help with some of your courses work, this is not a performanced-based program. The students are pursuing careers in music technology and music business.
So while a musical background is a good thing, the students in the program have solid academic backgrounds.
Please feel free to contact me direct if you have any other questions.
Sincerely,
David Miller
