Music Industry Book Download

unsigned bands and musicians in the music world?
I was reading a book, called: ‘An essential guide for serious singers and musicians’ This book argues that people are downloading music because the music industry is all about politics and image. Does anyone agree?

I totally agree with the fact that music is about image. Political music is great but there isn’t enough of it (it was more a thing of the 80′s with the hardcore punk movement). Today’s mainstream has absolutely nothing to do with talent, song writing, musicianship, etc. Look at half the artists out there right now hitting the Billboard chart, all of their songs are mass produced by the engineers, are not written by the artist, and if you search a video of them performing it on youtube I can guarantee that more than half of the artists cannot sing at all. Lots of today’s bands are also just products of their record labels and have no say in what they play, how they look, how they act in interviews (i.e The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, any other really terrible Disney star, and even other main-streamers).
Now to branch towards your question, I don’t think this is the reason why people download music. Speaking from personal experience I only download music because I listen to way too many bands/artists and would never be able to afford all the albums I want, plus why spend $15 on something that only costs $3 to make? Free is always better. Also there is alot of underground music that you will never even find a CD for in stores, so download. It’s even funnier that all the artists complain about this but are still getting paid millions just from their record labels, playing tours, merchandise sales, radio royalties, etc.
One last note, any album I download, if it is good enough I will go out and buy a hardcopy anyways!

The Best of James Taylor $6.70 Any good singer can interpret a song, but it takes a stylist to make it his own. James Taylor is a stylist. This 20-track anthology obviously can’t chronicle much more than the hits and high points of Taylor’s career, but it nonetheless captures the artistic essence of a performer who’s become a virtual synonym for “singer-songwriter” since his emergence in the late ’60s. A lot of ink has been spi… |
