Why are people so offensive towards Electronic music?!?
I like all kinds of Electronic music, house, trance, techno, drum & bass, ambient etc. when I listen to it on my MP3 player & many people were looking at me like I was weird & some call me gay just for listening to this genre of music! I don’t understand why so many americans hate electronic music? Why is it excepted more in the UK & rest of europe? How exactly does listen electronic make a person gay? I’m straight btw! No I don’t pay attention to the commercial garbage like lady gaga or lil wayne…
personally my beef against electronica is that its repetitive and lackluster. it does not require musical skills to produce and by that i mean hours and hours of practice on the instrument and that the writer can dispense having to work with a group of musicians to produce anything.
now of course i have nothing against writing music on the computer electronically and then having actual musicians perform it.. exept you dont have to bother with that with electronica.
i guess im just conservative in that way.. If it was made the same way King Crimson creates music (they got a lot of guitar synths and a lot of the same “vibes” as electronica) then i’d have more respect for it.
it takes years and years of practice to produce somone with the skills of say, Chick Corea, Steve Vai, Jordan Rudess, Pat Mastelloto or Robert Fripp .. you dont need much to create electronica
