Music Quality Problem?
I’m having a problem with a set of mp3′s, specifically some Touhou remixes. They cut off WAY too early (like a minute before the end), and I’ve been trying to restore them to their former glory. UNFORTUNATELY, though I used tools such as VBRfix, all it did was make it worse and cut the time even shorter (thank god I saved back ups), but no matter how much i try, I can’t seem to restore them. Any help?
My guess would be that they’re corrupt MP3s and you should replace them with new ones. Of course, this leads to the question of what happened to corrupt them in the first place. Perhaps your hard drive is failing? Perhaps you improperly update the ID3 tag and created an error in the file? Anyway, that’s most likely.
Second guess would be that you recently updated your media player and the updated screwed up your media player. Makes sure it’s these specific files that are the problem and not your media player. One great way to do this is to try opening them in Windows Media Player. WMP is notoriously bad at playing corrupt files, so if you can’t even open the file in WMP it’s likely corrupted. If Windows Media Player is the media player you normally use you should pickup winamp, VLC, or one of the thousand other superior (and free) alternatives.
There is a SMALL chance that transcoding the file will resolve the issue. Try using a program such as MediaCoder to transcode (translate) the file from MP3 to WAV and back again.
