Tampa Hip hop has been the basis of discussion for the last two years with the release of many major artist in the the Tampa area. Rapper Akiese originally from Cleveland Ohio in a recent interview stated “Miami has some of the top recording artist in the nation so it was a hands down decision when I thought of taking my grind to the south”.
Tampa Hip hop has a new sound that has been taking over the airwavs with artist from every genera. Miami music this year opened the doors to many new artist such as Akiese for the release of his new album (The illumination) set to be release early 2010 said to change the face of Tampa Hip hop.
Akiese has been accustomed to the studio since his adolescent years. As a recording artist, he stepped on the scene in 2001 in the group Crime Syndicate who released the album Luv 4 what I Claim. Then going solo releasing 5 of his own projects. The mix tape Yardwurk was released summer 2007 was hosted by the legendary Dj Chicago. He released Livin-N-Truth album in 2008. He continued to get college radio exposure (91.1). He broke into main stream radio with the hit single H8r’s (Z107.9). That took him to being a runner up in the Pepsi Smash. So be ready for Akiese.
