Ben Drew also known as Plan B – Harry Brown Interview
I recently spoke with Ben Drew also known as Plan B (for heads of music) to talk about his role in Harry Brown, working with Michael Caine and his highly anticipated second album. Ben Drew and Noel is brilliant – one of the reckless young Harry Browns' s (Sir Michael Caine) Estate, Harry Brown is a former Marine and a widower who lives alone in a depressed neighborhood. His only company is your best friend, Leonard (David Bradley). When Leonard is killed by a gang of thugs, Harry feels compelled to act and is forced to dispense his own brand of justice. As bids to clean up the dilapidated state of residence, their actions put you in conflict with the police, led by the official investigation of the DCI Frampton (Emily Mortimer) and Charlie Creed-Miles.
His character in the movie is bad! How did you get in that mode?
Ben Drew: Come on, you know me bruv, I was like a little more than when I was younger, not so bad, but I used up a lot of the craziness that was not `t hard at all, many of young people act like that in my country house yet, so I took a bit of how to act and move with my character. To be honest without being stubborn in everything it was not so hard 't you know, there were times that didn `t quite go with the script, so use words that I use in my ancestral home and I` d hear use young
There `s a scene in the movie when the police station to get interviewed was that one time? Your character was one.
Ben Drew: (laughs) Yes, exactly, with that scene I had noticed Charlie (Creed-Miles) who plays the copper, which was not `T going through the script and I'd heard` t cut, so I went on that too and thought it might be the dirtiest things worse and I could tell. Only recovered from each other which was great. The experience was great because you know that I loved, I learned a lot.
How to get involved with the film?
Ben Drew: The casting director of adulthood, adulthood, I actually got the part. The character is very similar to it `s much more cockney however.
What was it like working with Michael Caine?
Ben Drew: The crazy thing is that he never really talked to each other in the film, There `s no scene in which" talk again. Every scene you `re shooting at each other well, that` s running away or chasing me down. We don `t really talk a one in the film, which don `t actually exchange words, even at the end when we` re in the same room that he doesn `t speak to me directly, ' s talking to Sid (Liam Cunningham). He never said anything to each other, I guess because it was `t so much pressure, I didn` t have to shine if you know what I mean, it was very good because it didn `t feel the pressure on me, if that makes sense
I heard that, with their music when people can wait a second album from you? You did the main theme of this with Chase & Status.
Ben Drew: That `s the man coming out early next year, by this time Zane Lowe interviews should have played the single of that (stay too long), that `sa concept album about a Motown singer, who is sent to the prison for a crime he didn `t commit, it` s has Hip Hop in it, it `s the rap on it but it` sa lot more to sing, it `s all the live bands, live, strings, brass, it `s just a little project I'm doing" next, doesn `t mean they` ve turned his back on hip hop, it `s more than another project, things like my film, right now I'm doing this. Next year it `ll be something else
What else you straight?
Ben Drew: I `ve got a brief cameo in Noel Clarke` s upcoming movie 4,3,2,1 I `ve only a very small which I have done really as a thank you for adulthood. I did not `t have any other film pieces aligned in the moment, only the album, it` sa much, I have to focus on it. I `m going to be directing my own film I've written but I` m trying to get funding for that really, the script was written two years ago, I shot a short film that almost three years ago, I've been trying to get the movie the soil for a long time
