The essence of Hip Hop

About a year ago I started working on a presentation to highlight the basic differences between Hip Hop and Rap. In Somewhere in the fog of my project, I turned on the TV to see, had been killed Hip Hop and Rap declared legally insane. And while George Bush is responsible for the war in Iraq and a weak economy, bad everything America was being linked to Hip Hop. Drugs, teen pregnancy, violence, dropping out of high dropout rates, victimization of women (including rape and abuse), because there was racism in America, assassinations of police, pornography, I went out global warming. Okay, perhaps not global warming, but there was no serious witch hunt taking place. Later I saw David Banner and P Masta front a committee in Washington, DC, the defense of his music.

It was all surreal, watching the U.S. corporate media do what they do best, a sensational story for the ratings (first example, after the shooting at Virginia Tech University, a media went so far as to place an image 50 Cent along with the image of the shooter, saying that his music was responsible for influencing the murderer to commit violence).

Oprah "Hip City meetings Hop, BET's "Hip Hop vs. America," Paula Zahn "Hip Hop: Art or Poison" allows black leaders out of touch, the white right wing, and groups of women at all angry shouting "Hip Hop" … "Hip Hop has a negative influence on youth to do this …"," ….", promoting Hip Hop "Hip hop is the source of all the ills of society." To make matters worse people on these panels that were invited to speak on behalf of hip hop mostly rappers and members of the rap industry out to preserve their moneymaker. Legitimate members of the hip hop community in these three groups could count on one hand, common (Oprah Meeting City Hip Hop), Chuck D and Nelson George (Hip Hop vs. America), and a couple of others. Hip Hop was not giving a fair chance to express United States, what really was being pumped out of the most important radio waves and the team of Viacom (MTV, BET, and VH1) was not Hip Hop, but a version Hip Hop Rap marketed called. And as people continued to confuse rap to hip hop, things totally out of control with the declaration of the year "Hip Hop Is Dead." This statement was made for the first time when Nas released a single titled, for its 2007 album, "Hip Hop is Dead."

Really believes the statement or use it as a clever way to create a buzz and draw attention to his album release? His response to the controversy that still bothers me more, saying he was concerned, not only hip hop, both in the music scene all in general, in terms of creativity is concerned. Although they agree with him 100% due to the lack of creativity, I could not believe he perceived as a member of hip hop once active in commercial music, having been exposed a virus called mercantilism, was the victim died.

Luckily, hip hop was mainstream media to represent and defend against the assault … that … expected … I'm talking about … once the magazine The Source began trixin 'with the rap, the love story ended and the hip hop took to the streets. And lived hip hop Hot 97, in the beginning, but after hearing attracted enough demand, raises the rent so high that lowered the hip hop from the penthouse apt, a study of a room in the basement, finally back to the streets.

It was then decided to broaden my presentation to do more than just highlight the differences between the culture of Hip Hop & Rap major shopping, I also had to prove that Hip Hop was still alive. I decided that the best way is to present a clear and detailed description of what was Hip Hop. I had to go deeper than just the identification of the 5 elements, which is what was the original idea, but to explain why people love hip hop, what hip hop means to live, and what is not on 5 separate elements of rap hip hop. As a result I can not only create a presentation in part 3, I developed what I feel is the most important part of this presentation, which I call the "essence of culture.

Hip Hop has a soul, an essence which is composed of three main factors: creativity, originality and skill development. These are the main factors that fuel hip hop. Is the force that governs him and the foundation for which it is built. It makes the art, fashion and media hip-hop. When the music industry tried to bring the element of music hip hop culture to the mainstream, not included (on purpose or not included) the core, leaving nothing but a product called Rap. Once an item (or person) of the hip hop culture is separated from its essence, is disconnected and is no longer part of the culture.
