Hip Hop Essay Questions
Is this a good essay topic? If not, can you please suggest something in this topic area? Serious answers only!?
In order to graduate high school I need to write an 8,000 word essay on a question/topic of my choice. I was thinking of doing something in Black culture, preferably in music. The question I’m thinking of posing is this: “How does modern day rap/hip hop music compare to rap/hip hop of the golden era in terms of meaning of lyrics (and possibly instrumentation) and how is this affecting Black culture of today?”
IMHO, could be a great essay, but you might find it hard to find concrete evidence to support your topic. And at that, getting 8,000 words on hip-hop is not easy to say the least. You might want to be a bit more general, ie. “Art Imitates Life: How African-American Music in the Last 100 years Parallels Culture”.
….just a thought.
