Hip Hop Eighties Music
Does this decade suck so far?
The sixties and seventies had some of the best music ever made. The eighties, while not as great overall, had some great stuff as well. The nineties also had great music. But this decade seems to have had very few bands, albums and music in general that can be labeled as great.
In fact, this is a list of things that can/should be labeled great:
Wilco-YHF
Radiohead-Kid A, In Rainbows (though they really hit their peak with OK Computer)
Arcade Fire- Neon Bible, Funeral
Coldplay- Parachutes, AROBTH
The Strokes- Is this it?
Wolfmother- Wolfmother
Spoon-Gimme Fiction, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
My question: Do you think that I am right? Or do you have any music that you think I have omitted? Is there anything you think will get a velvet underground type reappraisal years later? I mean Rock and alternative specifically with this question, but if you think that there is something in Rap or hip hop good enough to merit inclusion, please respond.
Some of it sucks, you just have to search harder for music you do like. I enjoy, Gogol Bordello, HorrorPops, Anti-Flag, Nightwish, Epica, Symphony X (and many more) and those weren’t on your list.
