Hip Hop Effecting Youth

IS HIP HOP DEAD………………..?
for a school project i need to write a speech about tha topic..
please elaborate and express your opponion(s)..
is hiphop dead…?
how do you feel about tha controversy…?
how to you think this controversy derived…?
do you think tha sterotypes of hiphop tie into tha issue…?
if hiphop were to really “die” how do you think it would effect tha youth, if so at all..?
please support with examples, details, websites ect…
hip hop is an art form and as such, can never be viewed as dead. Bach and beethovan are literally dead but classical music isn’t.
The controversy was created to try and interest more people in full records and purchasing. Record labels and artists in the hip hop community NEED controversy to sell people on not only their albums and shows, but also their merchandise.
the stereotypes of hip hop would lead one to believe hip hop is NOT dead. the stereotype of hip hop is that it leads to crime and violence. the world isn’t seeing any less crime or violence. therefore hip hop isn’t dead. sorry, i didn’t make the stereotype and i don’t like it, i’m just telling it how it is.
as far as what makes hip hop what it is, the article below describes the hip hop culture as mostly consisting of rapping, djing, graffitiing, and breakdancing. djing has not only become more diversified into the alternative rock scene (i can give you a whole list of electro bands if you’d like) but also into more dance and techno oriented dj’s that are interested in faster crazier beats. Rapping/rhyming is very much alive (at least in the cities) there were always freestyles in school. graffiti is so gang related, how could it go away unless the gangs did? breakdancing i couldn’t really comment on, because i don’t really know much except i have some friends that like it, but they’re the only ones i’ve ever heard of and never seen anyone else on the streets or anywhere bust into a break.
So- hip hop in one sense is dead and also isn’t. hip hop as nas meant it is likely dead. It’s rare to hear a popular say anything about how bad life is and about how the government keeps people down. And there’s no more rapping about just having a good time. Those seem to be the things the hip hop community was built on. New school raps are about money and cars and about how life is the greatest. so hip hop in the sense of popular music is dead. hip hop now stands for something completely different than it used to. yet, the old hip hop community is still very much respected and there are still many people that love this art form and the things it represents. I don’t want to imagine a world without djs. imagine IMAGINE all the bands that wouldn’t exist (or would never have existed) without djs and the techniques djs invented….. linkin park, beastie boys, limp bizkit to name a few popular (rock) bands.
hip hop isn’t dead and i’ll keep it alive so it’ll never die. but new school rappers need to get their act together because i’m sick and tired of hearing how great their life is.
