Sir Elton Hercules John, CBE, born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, March 25, 1947, is an English singer-songwriter, composer and pianist. In his four decade career, Elton John has sold over 250 million albums, becoming one of the most successful artists of all time. Elton John has won six Grammy Awards, an Oscar, a Golden Globe Award and a Tony Award. Elton John has been very involved in the fight against AIDS since the late 1980 and was knighted in 1998. Elton John continues to be a champion for LGBT social movements. In 2008, Billboard magazine called it the most successful male solo artist on The Billboard Hot 100 top artists of all time. "
Elton John was educated at Pinner Wood Junior School, School Reddiford and Pinner County Grammar School until age 17 when he left just before his A-level exams pursue a career in the music industry. Elton John began playing the piano at age 3. After performing at parties and family gatherings, at the age of 7 years took formal piano lessons. Elton John showed musical aptitude at school, including the ability to compose melodies, and gained some notoriety by playing like Jerry Lee Lewis acting school. At the age of 11 years, Elton John won a junior scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music.

Elton John album was released in April 1970 on DJM Records Pye Records in the UK and U.S. university records, and established the formula for subsequent albums. The album quickly became the hit album first, reaching number four on the Billboard album chart 200. The concept album Tumbleweed Connection was launched in October 1970, and reached the Top Ten on the Billboard 200. 17/11/1970 The live album was recorded in a live broadcast A & R Studios on WABC-FM in New York City. Pete Townshend of The Who, Elton John asked to play a character named "Local Lad" in the film of the rock opera Tommy, and perform a song called "Pinball Wizard." Based on power chords, the version of Elton John was recorded and used to launch the film in 1975 and the single was released in 1976. The song reached number 7 in England. Bally subsequently released a "Captain Fantastic "pinball machine featuring an illustration of John in his movie appearance.

After the release of the soundtrack of The Lion King, the album stayed on the top of the Billboard charts for nine weeks. On 10 November 1999, the RIAA certified The Lion King Diamond to sell 15 million copies.
Elton John also released an album live called Elton John One Night Only – The Greatest Hits Series Elton John was at Madison Square Garden in New York that same year. In August 2003, Elton John scored his fifth number one on the UK only when "Are You Ready for Love" topped the UK charts. Returning again to musical theater, Elton John composed music for a West End Theatre production of Billy Elliot the Musical in 2005 with playwright Lee Hall.
