Are you ready for Gucci?

Guuci Mane will go free from prison next week after serving seven months of his one-year sentence.

The problematic hip-hop star, real name Radric Davis, was locked up last November after violating the terms of his probation for a 2005 assault conviction.

Mane pleaded guilty to assault in 2005 for attacking a nightclub promoter, and last September, he was sentenced to a year in jail for failing to fulfill his court-ordered 600 hours of community service in that case. He went to jail and served until March. Upon his release, Gucci went straight to the studio and recorded five songs.

The sentence is a blow to Gucci’s career. The ATL rapper has an album coming out — The State vs. Radric Davis — on December 8 and is arguably at the apex of his career; in terms of his sentence, he may be out of jail in six months.

Who is Gucci Mane

Davis was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and relocated with his single mother to ATL in the fourth grade. There he met Otis Williams, who is now fellow Atlanta rapper OJ da Juiceman. Since elementary school he had enjoyed writing.

In 2005, Davis released his independent debut album entitled Trap House, which featured the successful single “Icy” with Young Jeezy. Disputes over the rights to this single caused a rift between the two artists. Hard to Kill followed in 2006.[1] Hard To Kill included the hit single “Freaky Gurl”. The song peaked at #12 on the Hot Rap Tracks, #19 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and at #62 on the Hot 100. The remix featuring Ludacris and Lil Kim was included on his 2007 commercial debut album Back to the Trap House. Gucci Mane appeared on OJ da Juiceman’s “Make Tha Trap Say Aye” and began working on various mixtapes. Gucci Mane signed to Warner Bros. Records in May 2009.he loves writing poetry, and he began rapping at age 14.
