Amazon Mp3 Music Charts
Why do record companies release MP3s so long before CDs and Music Video’s?
Hi,
I was just wondering record companies release a song on iTunes and other MP3 download places, only for the song to rank at about no. 100 or son on the Amazon charts. Only then several weeks later release a video and other promotional material?
Wouldn’t it make sense to release it all at once.
First of all, Amazon charts have nothing to do with iTunes and iTunes charts have nothing to do with anything but iTunes sales. Secondly, a lot of listeners buy music from their favorite artists the minute it hits the street and probably don’t even care about promotional video, charts or anything else but having their copy. The promotional stuff really shouldn’t be a reason to hold back the sale of the music. It’s the music that music listeners are after, the other stuff is all secondary, if that. I don’t watch TV, never watched MTV or VH1 in my entire life and I don’t expect that to change ever. That’s a whole other thing in that it’s about TV ratings and what they mean to sponsors, as in advertisers. I’m not the least bit interested in buying videos or even downloading the occasional promotional freebie. I won’t watch it so there’s no reason to use up disc space or waste time downloading it. If I like the music, I’m all over it ASAP.
