“I told ya’ll we do this for the streets!”, says Pryme Minister in Road to Redemption, his first single off of his scheduled November 2010 release, Language of the Timez. Road to Redemption is a soulful, auto-tune driven song of atonement “for those who feel like they’ve gone too deep in the game to change…”.

Pryme Minister begins his campaign to take back the hearts and minds of the ‘hood for Christ with this “gangsta-to-God” testimony/ biography which begins with an all-too-familiar story about a young man taken in by the temptations of the street. However, instead of a tale ending in prison, death or mindless “bling-bling” braggadocio, “benjamins” and sex, we are treated to an authentic happy ending.

I stand for the sinner”

Pryme Minister is living proof that both a brother can be taken out of the street, and the street can be taken out of a brother, without him ever leaving it. A repentant, ex-street hustler, who has totally amended his ways, now preaches the word of Christ in those same trenches where he developed a reputation as a well-known drug dealer.

He demonstrates that his allegiance remains to the souls in the street, as opposed to the music industry or churches, in his collaboration with Grafh on the remix.

Grafh, while being far from new to the hip hop game, is not exactly known for spittin’ on albums giving props to Christ. If PM was a typical “Gospel hip hop” artist, this would have been a mismatch in the making, as Gospel hip hop makes little effort to accommodate non church-goers. Change Muzik, on the other hand, is the street-gospel coming to light in the projects, precisely for those people.

Therefore, Grafh’s lyrics, even when he speaks on never going anywhere without his “gat”, are right at home. Although he makes no direct references to God in his verse, he does mention the inevitable fatigue that every street-entrepreneur has to deal with. Part guilt-part paranoia, this “hustler’s burnout” comes with the “thug-life” stamp and, in the end, is known to eat even the smoothest of criminals alive.

Pryme says he met Grafh in the studio through a mutual friend. They hit it off immediately, and the rest is history.

…As the Lord liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity…”

2 Sam 4:9

According to the Holy Bible, we are all in need of Redemption. Redemption or the redeeming qualities of Christ are at the foundation of the Christian faith. These redeeming qualities include balance, righteousness, eternal life, total peace, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Pryme Minister’s road to redemption took him from the bondage of a life of crime to now serving as a minister as well as a sort of “ghetto prophet” to juvenile delinquents and other “at-risk” youth. He says it was because of the prayers and unfaltering faith of his grandmother and other loved ones that gave him the strength to stand up and face the reality of his dead-end existence in the streets of Hartford.

As a youngster, Pryme was sent to live with his grandmother. He was very close to her and recalls being awakened regularly around 3 am to the sound of his grandmother’s voice as she spoke with the Lord. This communication almost seemed half prayer and half intimate conversation.

“..that’s how real it was; you could hear the connection she had with Him…she was the one who prayed for me while I was lost in the streets…she is very important!”, Pryme proudly asserts.

His repentance and the death of his criminal persona to his new life in Christ is explained in the chorus as well as when he spits, “…from watchin’ the pistol smokin’ to watchin’ the heavens open…”.

This is a street-certified testimony dedicated to his grandmother, the many close friends that he lost, the game, the sinner…and the Road to Redemption.

..For those who feel like they’ve gone too far to be forgiven…”.
