1980s Pop Music Decade
What current female singer has Soft Cell’s ‘Tainted Love’ in her song’s background?
I heard a song today on the radio, by a current female singer, in which some of the beat and sound effects of “Tainted Love” was playing in the background. (Tainted Love was a hit song in the 1980s for the New Wave/synth-pop band Soft Cell.)
The DJ didn’t say who the singer was, or the name of her song, but I’m going to guess its title is “Rescue Me,” because she kept repeating that phrase. I’m not sure what genre to call her song, because I’m not a fan of music like that. Urban contemporary? Hip hop pop?
Anyhoo, I’m just curious who it is, because I don’t think I’ve ever heard another song that combines that type of music, with 80s New Wave/synth pop! It was really a trippy combination! *chuckle* Well, at least for an 80s freak like me who went to high school in that decade! ;D
The artist’s name is Rihanna. The song’s name is “S.O.S. (Rescue Me)”
